    40 agreements inked so far, says DefExpo outcome report

    As many as 40 agreements were signed during the DefExpo 2018, which took place near the city between April 11-14, including 30 Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs) and 10 Transfer of Technology (ToT) pacts, according to an outcome report document released by the Department of Defence Production, Ministry of Defence on Friday.

    There were 16 MoUs between defence public sector undertakings (DPSUs), seven signed during the India-Russia military conference, seven between various private businesses and 10 ToT agreements. Bharat Electronics Limited and Spetstechnoexport Ukraine signed an MoU for modernisation and localisation of the production of components for armoured vehicles, creation of a new tank for the needs of Indian Defence ministry, modernisation of radar and air defence systems produced by the erstwhile Soviet Union and joint research and engineering development in the field of SONAR and radar tech. 

    BEL inked pacts with L&T Defence and Mahindra Defence systems to work towards defence initiatives under ‘Make in India’ and export of defence products and systems. Mazagon Docks and Goa Shipyard inked pacts with various entities for indigenisation of various components during shipbuilding. IIT Madras will work with Mazagon Docks for indigenous development of advanced unmanned vehicles. 

    Nearly, 702 exhibitors participated including 542 Indian exhibitors. Out of this, 160 MSMEs participated in the expo.
