Talking to newsmen on Friday, Mr Yadav said he would hold discussions with the State party leaders over the next two days and decide whether to go it alone or align with a partner in the party's goal to defeat the BJP. "Our intention is to preserve the composite culture of the country as enshrined in the constitution" he added.
He said though the party was not so strong in the state as it used to be in the past, it had the support of the people in all parts of Karnataka and that would be enough to defeat the BJP by supporting a reliable partner.
He said that the BJP had not kept up its poll promises and was out to communally divide the country and had been succeeding to some extent in the last four years of its rule.
Mr Yadav said Prime Minister Narendra Modi had assured 2 crore jobs, but had reversed the trend as thousands of people have lost their jobs due to demonitation exercise. None of the assurances such as bringing black money from abroad and crediting Rs.15 lakh each in the bank accounts of economically weaker section people, raising the prices of farm produce by 1.5 times had all remained a mirage and the single most intention of the BJP was to divide the country communally.
He called for unity among the opposition parties to put up a united fight against the BJP.
