Inspector, 2 Sub Inspectors receive Lieutenant Governor’s medal in Puducherry

She also presented the Union Home Minister’s medal for excellence in police training to Head Constable Ashok Kumar, SG ASI Raguman Settu. Lt Governor’s police medal for extra-ordinary service was awarded to Inspector of Police S Balamurugan, Sub Inspector of Police S Ramesh and  Sub-Inspector of Police G Chitra. 

Forty-seven schools were awarded for outstanding performance in the school final examinations. Earlier, she unfurled the national flag at the Indira Gandhi sports complex here and inspected a guard of honour presented by the Puducherry armed police. This was followed by march pasts by various contingents, including police, home guards, ex-servicemen, students, scouts and guides. 

Tableaux depicting the achievements of various departments of the territorial administration were presented. Cultural programmes were also organized on the occasion. Meanwhile, opposition MLAs belonging to AINRC and AIADMK boycotted the ‘at home’ reception hosted by Bedi at the Raj Nivas. The boycott by the four AIADMK MLAs was announced earlier by party legislature leader A Anbalagan, protesting her ‘style of functioning’. The absence of AINRC legislators raised eyebrows as the party, along with the BJP, had been defending Bedi over attacks by the ruling Congress and the AIADMK on her ‘style of functioning.’
