Train service in south Kashmir remains suspended for second day
Train service remained suspended for the second consecutive day on Thursday for security reasons in south Kashmir, where a youth was killed when security forces opened fire to disperse demonstrators who hit the streets after a Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) militant was killed in an encounter on January 9.

All trains running through south Kashmir remained suspended, a railway official told UNI. However, train service from Srinagar-Badgam to Baramulla in north Kashmir continued to chug as per schedule, he added.
He said no train will run on Badgam-Srinagar-Anantnag-Qazigung in south Kashmir to Banihal in Jammu region.
"We are acting on the advice of local administration and police who are taking decision keeping in view the security situation in the valley," he said, adding that a fresh advisory was received on Wednesday night to suspend the train service in south Kashmir.
Train runs will be resumed only after receiving green signal from police, he said.
