    Two held with fake currency of Rs One Lakh Seventy thousand by Delhi Police

    A special staff team of Central district police has nabbed two people from the Old Delhi area, busting a syndicate involved in circulation of fake Indian Currency Notes (FICN) of RS 2000 and Rs 500 denominations, recovering around Rs 1,70,000 of the fake money from their possession, the police said on Tuesday.

    After receiving a specific intel, the police special staff team apprehended Enamul Miyan (31) and Khalilullah Biswas (39) from the Urdu Bazar area behind Kasturba hospital near Jama Masjid on Sunday afternoon,while the two were exchanging packets containing the fake currency.

    It was revealed that accused procured the fake currency through their contacts in Bangladesh, the police said. "Fifty  fake Indian currency notes of Rs 2,000, 140  notes of Rs 500 were recovered from the duo," DCP central district said.

    During interrogation it was further revealed that one of the accused Khalilullah is also involved in Hawala transactions and later when police raided the hotel room where he was lodging, a total of Rs 12.77 lakh was also recovered which was original currency, the senior police official said.

    Enamul also disclosed that  he used to bring fake notes from two people in Malda district of West Bengal and further distributed the fake currency in Delhi and adjoining areas.

    Enamul alias Rinku, a permanent resident of Malda, earlier worked as a labour supervisor with a construction company in Faridabad area while Khalilullah, who was also a Malda resident, worked as a supervisor with a construction company at IGI airport.

    Enamul got into the FICN circulation for making easy money and was involved in this since last two years, according to the police.
