However, Srinagar-Jammu national highway and historic Mughal road, connecting Shopian in south Kashmir with Rajouri and Poonch in Jammu region are through for traffic, a traffic police official told UNI.

He said there was fresh snowfall at Sonamarg, Zojila and Meenamarg on Ladakh highway during the night.

"We have closed the highway for traffic due to snowfall and slippery road conditions," he said, adding that there is almost no possibility to allow any traffic movement today. Snow on the road would get frozen due to which there is a danger of accidents and traffic will be allowed only when weather improve and there is a green signal from the authorities.

Meanwhile, the Met department has already issued a forecast for heavy rain and snow in the state from December 11 to 15 which could affect air and surface traffic.
