Four children drown in reservoir in Odisha

The incident took place yesterday when the children were playing near a reservoir adjacent to Paraja Khudupi village in the district, they said.

All four of them were aged between 2 and 9 years.

Efforts are on to ascertain the circumstances under which the children slipped into the reservoir, said Additional Superintendent of Police (Koraput) VR Rao.

"A case has been registered and investigation is in progress. We are also trying to ascertain whether it was a case of accident or foulplay," he said.

The deceased were identified as Laxmi Bhoi, Susanta Bhoi, Sanjay Bhoi and Sabita Majhi, he added.
