"We have suspended all trains in the valley for security reasons", a senior railway official told UNI on Saturday morning.

According to him, an advisory has been received from police to suspend all trains today.

Therefore, he said, no train will chug on Srinagar-Badgam in the central Kashmir to Baramulla in north and similarly no train will run on Srinagar-Anantnag-Qazigund in south Kashmir to Banihal in Jammu, he added.

We are acting as per the advice of police to  suspend and resume the train service, he added.

Admitting to the fact that passengers are facing inconvenience due to suspension of train service, he said that Saturday and Monday witnesses major rush of passengers.

Train service has become very popular in the Kashmir valley because as it was low on cost, fast and safe as compared to other mode of transport.

The separatists have called for a strike and civil curfew against braid chapping in the valley, where over 100 such incidents have been reported during the past two months, while the police failed to make any break-through in this regard.
