AR Rahman gets on Modi bandwagon, unveils track on demonetisation
Rahman, who had earlier made a reference to demonetisation in his new version of the popular 1994 track Urvasi Urvasi , has taken inspiration from it for his latest music piece in collaboration with the Seattle Symphony, one of America’s leading symphony orchestras.

Music maestro A.R. Rahman on Friday unveiled a 19-minute music piece titled The Flying Lotus , based on Prime Minister Narendra Modi government’s move to demonetise high value currency notes. But he says he’s “not making a judgment” with the piece.
Rahman, who had earlier made a reference to demonetisation in his new version of the popular 1994 track Urvasi Urvasi , has taken inspiration from it for his latest music piece in collaboration with the Seattle Symphony, one of America’s leading symphony orchestras. “ The flying lotus is an impression of the rise of India. The whole journey of India. I wanted to do something on what was going on in India during demonetisation and what will happen in the future. It’s open to interpretations,” said Rahman.
