Tharoor says woman should have approached police instead of taking law in her hands
Talking to newspersons here, the Congress MP said the woman who was subjected to sexual assault for the last eight years, should have approached the police.

Dr Shashi Tharoor representing the Lok Sabha seat here today opined that the woman who chopped off the genital organ of a man following continuous sexual harassment should have approached the police instead of taking the law in her own hands.
Talking to newspersons here, the Congress MP said the woman who was subjected to sexual assault for the last eight years, should have approached the police.
Referring the support extended to her by various political leaders in this regard, Tharoor said "we need a society where justice prevails and not one where every individual seeks it with a knife in her hand."
This is to be noted that the woman chopped off the penis of a self styled godman, Gangeshananda Theerthapada alias Hari Swamy, when he tried to rape her on friday night.
He was admitted to the Medical College Hospital here where doctors performed an emergency  plastic surgery on him. The police also filed a case against him under Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POSCO) Act.
