RSS local leader hacked to death in Kannur, BJP calls district hartal tomorrow
According to police, the deceased was identified as Choorakad Biji (34) of Kakkanpara, who is also the RSS Kakkanpara Mandalam Karyavahak.

A 34-year-old RSS local leader was hacked to death in an alleged attack by CPI(M) gang at Muttom near Pazhayangadi this evening.
BJP alleged that CPI(M) is behind the brutal murder but police said unidentified people attacked Biju and he died on the spot with cut injuries on his neck. BJP called a dawn-to-dusk hartal at Kannur district and Mahe region protesting the murder, tomorrow.Â
Essential services are excluded from the hartal.
According to police, the deceased was identified as Choorakad Biji (34) of Kakkanpara, who is also the RSS Kakkanpara Mandalam Karyavahak.Â
The incident took place around 1600 hrs at Palakkode near Muttom near bridge.Â
Biju, who was travelling on his bike, was hit by an SUV from the back and fell down from his bike.Â
Suddenly the unidentified gang came from the car attacked with lethal weapons and Biju suffered serious injuries on neck. He died on the spot and the body was shifted to Pariyaram Medical College hospital for post-mortem.Â
This is the eighth political murder in the district, including that of five BJP/RSS workers and three CPI(M) activists, with in one year, ever since the LDF government came to power.
He was also the 12th accused in CPI(M) worker Dhanaraj of Kunnaravu murder case on July 11. Police arrested him in the case and Biju was on bail for the last two days, after the remand custody.
Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will visit Kannur tomorrow morning to inaugurate the 54th State conference of NGO union at Dinesh Auditorium. Police said the situation is under control.
