Amid opposition from almost every quarter, including the ruling and opposition parties, and confusions  regarding the study material, the National Eligibility and  Entrance Test (NEET) for medical courses will be held across the country tomorrow.Â
Around 11.35 lakh students, including an estimated 80,000  students from Tamil Nadu, will be taking up the entrance test  to pursue medical courses in the country.
To be held in a pen and paper based mode, the question booklet  will consist of 180 multiple choice questions (MCQs) on Physics,  Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology as prescribed in the syllabus of  NEET 2017.
The examination will be conducted for three hours between  1000 hrs and 1300 hrs in 103 selected centres that include Chennai,  Tiruchi, Madurai, Coimbatore, Salem, Namakkal, and TirunelveliÂ
from the State.
As a first, NEET 2017 will be held in eight regional languages  including Tamil, along with Hindi and English.
Until last year, the exam was conducted in English and Hindi only.
Candidates facing the test were advised to reach the centres at  least 30 minutes before the commencement of examination.
There will be a clock at every centre that runs an identical time  to the NEET web portal that they need to follow.
Candidates were also advised not to carry any textual or digital  material inside the examination hall as they would be provided with  a pen.
Otherwise, an unfair means case will be marked against them. Further,  such candidates will be debarred from taking NEET permanently and a  criminal action will be initiated.Â
