All villages to be electrified in Assam by June this year
The Assam government has said that it will electrify all the villages by June, this year.

Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal directed the power department to meet the deadline of June 30 so that all the un-electrified villages will have access to electricity without fail, an official statement said.
Chairing a high level meeting of all wings of power department here, chief minister Mr Sonowal strictly directed the power department to connect un-electrified villages in Assam under Deen Dayal Upadhaya Gram Jyoti Yojana by June 30 this year.
The meeting also decided a broad roadmap of the power department of the state for the next five year also took decision to use pre-paid meters across Assam and a detailed project report to be prepared very soon for the same.Â
A unique identification number will also be generated for state of the art technological solutions to all consumers for their problems, it added.Â
Moreover, chief minister Mr Sonowal said the char areas of Assam which have long been considered as liability will henceforth change the face and solar power parks will be set in the char areas to make Assam a solar power hub.
The meeting also decided to augment dedicated feeders for consumers of all segments and finalisation of a policy to reduce technical and commercial loss which at present is around 30 per cent in the state.
