    Srinagar

    One person was killed and four were injured on Tuesday in action by security forces against protesters pelting stones near an encounter site in Chadoora area of central Kashmir’s Budgam district.
    Security forces launched a cordon and search operation at Durbugh in Chadoora area in the early hours following information about the presence of militants there, a police officer said.
    The search operation turned into a gunbattle after militants opened fire on the security forces.
    As the security forces were engaged in an exchange of fire with, a large number of protesters started pelting stones at them, the officer said.
    One person was hit by a bullet in the neck and rushed to a hospital in Srinagar and he died of his injuries on the way to hospital.
    Four suffered injuries as security forces fired pellet guns and tear smoke shells in a bid to disperse the protesters, the official said.
