After poll win, PM Modi asks people to pledge to create ‘new India’ by 2022

Modi said that the mandate in the just concluded elections in five states have brought in a paradigm shift in Indian politics and he sees this as an emergence of a ‘New India.’ 

“I see emergence of a new India,” Prime Minister told a gathering at the party headquarter here. He was speaking after being felicitated at the party office by enthusiastic party workers and supporters in presence of BJP chief Amit Shah and senior leaders and Union Ministers like Rajnath Singh, Arun Jaitley, M Venkaiah Naidu and Shivraj Singh Chouhan. 

Prime Minister said people in these elections have proved quite emphatically that they participate in poll not to get something. “They do not want freebies, but the people of this country want opportunities from the elected government wherein they want to work hard and march on,” Modi said. 

He said time is ripe to bring in drastic improvement in the living conditions of the poor and said improvement in the quality of life of the poor will help eradicate the burden faced by the aspirational middle class.

Prime Minister also took a dig at political rivals for questioning on why he is working so hard. “Nothing can be more satisfying than this,” he said in obvious reference to election campaign in Uttar Pradesh when political leaders from Samajwadi Party and Congress who had taken pot shots at his style of functioning. 

Earlier, on his arrival at the party headquarters here, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was welcomed by party President Amit Shah and was accompanied by Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, Union Ministers — Ananth Kumar, Venkaiah Naidu and Jitendra Singh and Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan. Modi garlanded the statue of BJP idealogue Deen Dayal Updhayay. 

“It is an early Holi for the party,” the BJP President said. Amit Shah said. He said after party’s massive win in Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand, BJP’s ‘Vijay Yatra’ will go to Himachal Pradesh, Gujarat, Karnataka, South and East. Shah said the victory in Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand had proved that Modi is most popular leader among the masses.

Greeting jubilant party workers and supporters, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday walked to the BJP headquarters in  Delhi, a day after its historic win in UP and Uttarakhand elections. As PM’s motorcade arrived at the roundabout on Ashoka Road near Le Meridien Hotel, he was greeted by supporters who had gathered on either side of the road. A few metres away from the roundabout, he got off his car and walked towards the BJP headquarters to attend the party’s Parliamentary Board meeting. Surrounded by security personnel, Modi waved at his supporters during his ‘victory walk’ amid shower of petals and chants of ‘Modi, Modi.’  BJP workers danced to the drum beats outside the party headquarters, where Modi was felicitated.
