    Surgical strike on black money takes two lives in Assam

    In a panic reaction to the anouncement of scrapping of Rs 500 and 1000 notes by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, two persons died of heart attack in different parts of Assam fearing that the money they have stashed at home for daily use has become invalid.

    Dinbondhu, a resident of Kumarpara locality of Guwahati, on Tuesday sold his plot for the marriage of his daughter. He kept the amount at home. But after hearing the news of scrapping of notes at night, he became restless.

    Dinbondhu on Tuesday night ran from pillar to post in different ATM's to deposit the money but ultimately failed to do so.

    According to his family members, he was very restless and slept without taking food. In the morning while taking bath he got an heart attack and died on the spot.

    More or less in similar manner, Jitu Rehman in Sibsagar district in panic reaction to the sudden annoucement of scrapping of big notes died due to heart attack.

    The deceased has kept Rs 3 lakh of cash at his home accumulated from different sources for the marriage of his brother next day.

    After hearing the Prime Minister's announcement, Jitu tried to deposit the money through ATMs in the bank and was unable to do so till 2.30 am that night.

    Family members said he came home around 3 in the morning on Wednesday and slept. During the sleep he got a heart attack and died.
