    Rajnath Singh takes stock of situation in Valley after killing of 7 Pakistani rangers

    Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh today called on National Security Guard DG KK Sharma and took stock of situation in Kashmir after Friday’s cross firing incident in which seven Pakistani rangers and a terrorist were gunned down.

    On Friday morning at Hit Nagar sector in Kashmir, Pakistani rangers violated cease fire critically injuring one Border Security Force (BSF) jawan. In retaliation, BSF launched an aggressive offensive killing seven rangers and a terrorist.  

    Meanwhile, Minister of State for Home Affairs Hansraj Ahir said that clear directions have been given to BSF and other paramilitary forces to retaliate any type of infiltration or violation of cease fire. "We have given clear directions to BSF and other paramilitary forces to retaliate in case of violation of cease fire or infiltration," said Ahir. 

    According to sources, after the Friday’s incident, additional force has been deployed on borders. Night patrolling has been intensified. BSF, along with the Army, have been continuing combing the entire area. 

    Meanwhile, curfew was on Saturday lifted from six police station areas of the city but normal life remained affected in Kashmir for the 106th straight day due to the separatist-sponsored strike. Curfew was imposed on Friday in six police station areas of the city. A police official said the situation in the summer capital here and elsewhere in the valley was under control, even as a youth died during clashes between protestors and security forces in Budgam district of central Kashmir on Friday.
