    Fresh clashes in south Kashmir, dozens injured

    Dozens of civilians were injured during fresh clashes between security forces and stone-pelting protesters in south Kashmir's Pulwama district, police said.

    Thousands of residents of Karimabad and adjoining areas took to streets this morning to protest against the alleged nocturnal raids conducted by security forces, a police official said.

    The protestors started pelting stones at the security forces who retaliated by firing tear smoke shells and pellet guns, he said.

    Twenty injured persons have been referred to various hospitals in the city, the official said.

    The clashes were going on in the area till reports last came in, he added.

    CRPF said 19 of its personnel were injured in stone pelting incidents in the Valley.
    "19 CRPF personnel injured & 1 CRPF vehicle damaged in 24 stone pelting incident involving the Forces in the Kashmir valley in past 24 hrs," the force said in a tweet.

    Meanwhile, a youth injured in firing by security forces last month, succumbed to injuries, taking the death toll in the ongoing unrest in Kashmir to 76, police said.
    Javaid Ahmad Dar was hit in the leg by a bullet fired by security forces on violent protestors in Narbal area of Budgam district on August 5, a police official said.
    He said the bullet injury had necessitated amputation of his leg which caused renal complications, leading to his death this afternoon at SKIMS hospital.
    Violent protests started across Kashmir valley on July 9, a day after Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani was killed in an encounter with security forces.
