Talking to newsmen here, he said Modi should have taken a cue from the former Prime Minister late Indira Gandhi, who had intervened in a similar situation to provide drinking water for Chennai city.
He said that Indira Gandhi had convened a meeting with Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu to get a share of Krishna waters to quench the thirst of Chennai people. Similarly, Modi should convene a meeting between Karnataka and Tamil Nadu and resolve the issue.
“Karnataka is asking water for drinking purpose because of deficiency of rain, but the neighbouring brothers are asking water for agriculture purpose. Drinking water issue should be given priority,” he added.
