Going Viral: Mohenjo Daro ’s trailer faces flak on social media
Director Ashutosh Gowariker of Lagaan and Jodha Akbar fame is known for his detailed portrayal in period flicks. But looks like he has gone totally wrong with Mohenjo Daro.
Chennai
The trailer of the film was unveiled on the social network on Monday and the 3.30-minute trailer has sparked an outrage on the social media. Among various things that were particularly discussed were how a perfectly booming city is called the mound of dead (Mohenjo-Daro was the name given by the archaeologists much later, translating directly into the city of the dead in Sindhi) by the dwellers themselves, the presence of Arabian horses which isn’t factually known in the Indus Valley Civilization and actress Pooja Hegde’s thigh-slit and modern costumes.
Although, the trailer has been viewed by lakhs over the last two days, many are taking jibes at its inaccurate portrayal of history. It has also lead to long discussions among historians and archaeologists about how the director confused Vedic age with Indus Valley Civilisation era.
