“Employment creation is central to our growth and development strategy. We are committed to employment generation by facilitating ease of doing business, including for start-ups and MSMEs. Ensuring job security, wage security and social security for workers is our priority. The ministry is working to simplify, consolidate and rationalise the provisions of 43 labour laws in four Labour Codes like Labour Code on Wages; Industrial Relations; Social Security and Welfare and Safety and Working Conditions,” the Minister claimed.

“As a founding member of International Labour Organisation (ILO), India is committed to the principle of tripartism.  The Ministry has put its best efforts to reach to a consensus on all issues and many tripartite meetings and discussions have been held before taking decisions on a variety of issues,” he explained.

“The Indian Labour Conference is the highest tripartite consultative body at the national level. The 46th session of Indian Labour Conference on July 20-21, 2015, was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” he added. Dattatreya also listed the initiatives taken and achievements of the Ministry in the last one year.
