Modi, Hasina inaugurate Internet gateway, power deal
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Bangladesh counterpart Sheikh Hasina on Wednesday jointly inaugurated much waited third international Internet gateway via Agartala and transmission of power from Tripura through video conferencing

Both Modi and Hasina assured further strengthening relation between the two countries. Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar has attended the formal export of 100 MW power from Palatana plant of South Tripura to Bangladesh and import of 10 Gbps internet bandwidth by video conference.
Appreciating the positive attitude of Modi led government towards implementing long pending mega initiative to improve bilateral relation between India and Bangladesh, Sarkar said, “It sets another milestone for strengthening relations between the two countries and greater prospect of South Asian integration”.
He, however, pointed out that Tripura and Bangladesh has long relation since its inception in 1971 and Bangladesh has unconditionally supported the Tripura government for carrying over dimensional consignments for Palatana power plant using its Ashuganj port, as lone NH 44 was not able to carry them.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated by remote control 100 mw power supply from Tripura’ Palatana to Bangladesh. At the same time, Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina provided 10 GB Internet bandwidth to India and the entire programme was held through video-conferencing.
Similarly, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) and Bangladesh Submarine Cable Company Limited (BSCCL) have jointly built India’s third international internet gateway after Chennai and Mumbai and connected it to 10 Gbps bandwidth at Akhaura Checkpost of Agartala in January.
