Sushma anguish over stripping, beating Tanzanian girl in Bangalore, asks State to punish culprits
Reacting to the reports of a Tanzanian student beaten up and allegedly stripped and paraded in Bangalore, the Minister for External Affairs (MEA) minister Sushma Swaraj said she was "deeply pained" by the heinous incident and asked the state chief minster to ensure safety of foreign students and stringent punishment for the guilty.

"We are deeply pained over the shameful incident with a Tanzanian girl in Bengaluru(Bangalore)," Ms Swaraj said in a series of tweets.
"I spoke to the Chief Minister of Karnataka. He informed me that a criminal case has been registered and four accused have been arrested," Ms Swaraj said.
"I have asked the Chief Minister to ensure safety and security of all foreign students and stringent punishment for the guilty.... I have asked for immediate report from the Government of Karnataka," Ms Swaraj added.
In a case of "mistaken identity" a mob looking for a car that mowed down a local woman, stopped the car of 21-year- old BBM undergraduate in which she was travelling, dragged her out, stripped and beat her up before setting the vehicle afire.
An anguished High Commission of Tanzania is said to have raised the matter with MEA.
