GOING VIRAL: Kalki reveals ugly truth behind journalism

Actress Kalki Koechlin, who is known for taking up unconventional roles in cinema, is also a poet at heart.  Kalki chose to narrate a self-written poem titled ‘The Printing Machine’ through a video.  The rhythmic poetry is a satire against news gatherers — daily broadsheets, magazines, social media and textbooks. The poem reveals how hollow and robotic the consumption and production of news has become. Centered around crimes against women, she alludes to events that shook the nation, and also to those that were equally gruesome but got replaced by beauty advertisements and our apathy.
