Press release issued by the Delhi government dated 6/1/2015, directed all the private unaided recognised schools to develop and adopt criteria for admissions that includes 75% open seats to entry level classes for session 2016-17. It also insisted that the criteria for admissions be defined, clear, non-discriminatory, transparent and unambiguous. Similarly, the institutions were asked to upload the redefined criteria on their websites in a transparent manner.

The circular issued claimed that certain schools provide 75% reservations under several categories which are unjust and unfair. It further stated only 25% reservation that benefits the EWS (Economically Weaker Section) under Right to Education Act will be accepted from now on.

This move from the Delhi government is expected to benefit both the children and parents who seek better education for their ward.
