Trinamool Congress member suspended after Malda firing incident
In the wake of killing of two youngsters by Trinamool Congress member, the party national spokesperson Derek O’Brien said the party has zero tolerance for such issues

Trinamool Congress (TMC) Panchayat member Pabitra Roy has been suspended from the party, after he shot two youngsters to death from his car, which had, a few minutes back, fatally rammed a cyclist. Confirming the suspension, TMC national spokesperson Derek O’Brien said the party has zero tolerance for such issues. “He is only a Panchayat member.
He allegedly used a gun, he has already been arrested. The law will take its own course, as it is equal for everybody. And he has already been suspended from the party,” he said. A senior police officer said while 18-year-old Asim Mondal died on the spot after being hit by a bullet his teenaged friend Rahul Paswan got seriously injured in the firing. Paswan, who was rushed to a Kolkata Hospital from Malda Medical College, latest succumbed to the bullet that struck his brain. The car was fleeing after knocking down a cyclist, who died on the spot. As some locals, including the two youth, gave them a chase they opened fire, the officer said.
Two killed in explosion
Meanwhile, two persons were killed and two others injured when the bomb they were making exploded in a godown at Danga area in Malda on Monday. While the dead have been identified as Niloo Sheikh and Faizul Sheikh, the injured have been identified as Nabi Sheikh and Injajul Alam, he said. The injured were admitted to Malda Medical College and Hospital. One of the injured is a relative of Nafozul Alam, a zonal president of Trinamool Congress, the police said.
