Postman abducted by Naxals in Chhattisgarh found dead
A 34-year-old postman, who was abducted by Naxals last week, was found dead today in Chhattisgarh's insurgency-hit Dantewada district, police said.
Raipur
The body of postman Sujit Podiyami was found near Pariya village under Kuwakonda police station limits, a location close to the place he was kidnapped from last week, Dantewada Superintendent of Police Kamlochan Kashyap said over phone.
Soon after getting a message about a body lying abandoned, security forces were rushed to the spot to recover it, he said.
On Saturday, the rebels had abducted Podiyami from the weekly market at his native place Phulpar, he said.
Preliminary investigation revealed that Naxals had killed Podiyami branding him as a secret trooper, the SP said, adding that the victim was not at all associated with police by any means.
A hunt has been launched to trace the assailants, he added.
