One dead in Delhi courtroom shootout
Four men have been detained in the aftermath of a courtroom shooting in Karkardooma Court in New Delhi, that left one constable dead and two others critically injured

A Delhi Police constable was killed and two others seriously injured when assailants opened fire inside a courtroom in east Delhi’s Karkardooma Court today, following which four youths have been detained. Metropolitan Magistrate Sunil Gupta also had a close shave as one of the bullets scraped past his chair and hit the wall behind, said police. The deceased constable, identified as Ram Kumar, posted at Delhi Police’s third battalion, which is entrusted with the transport of under-trials between courts and prisons, was hit by four bullets. The Delhi government has announced a compensation of Rs 1 crore for the family of the deceased policeman. The assailants, of which some are suspected to be minors, fired around ten rounds.
