Jammu & Kashmir girl students visit Chennai
The city of Chennai welcomed a group of 15 girl students from Sophian in Jammu & Kashmir, who were part of the Sadbhavana visit organised and sponsored by the Indian Army.

These girls studying in Army Goodwill School, Sophian were on a visit here as part of a programme which aims to create awareness among the people about different cultures and diverse traditions of the Indian States. The Army undertakes a large number of civic action programmes to win the hearts of people as part of a strategy for conflict resolution.
The students were hosted by the General Officer Commanding, Dakshin Bharat Area, who advised them to see for themselves the varied cultures of the people and urged them to share their experience with parents, friends and relatives on their return. He also informed them about the development of the country and drove home the importance of peace.Â
These children, who come from remote villages, where thrilled to visit the Officers Training Academy, ships of the Coast Guard, the Air Force Station at Tambaram and the Army Public School. They were also hosted by the chairman of MIOT and were impressed by the medical facilities available to the people of Chennai. They also visited many tourist and shopping destinations in Chennai and enjoyed themselves.
They will leave Chennai on Sunday.
