Coloured highlights add more texture to dense hair
The client wanted a trendy cut and colour makeover based on the length of hair which will also suit her personality. She did not want to shorten her hair length and she has long hair of wavy texture and great density.

With respect to colour, she wanted to try out something that was very subtle and understated. We worked with conversion layers for the client. This style works well for long hair with good density. While the customer’s hair had good length, texture and density, it lacked style and was falling heavy. Conversion layers helps add definition to the length and movement to the hair without shortening it.Â
Based on her skin tone, we opted for a dual tone — a blend of caramel and cherry. Stylists decided on these colours because caramel gave an additional lift to the hair, while cherry added a vibrant touch perfectly complementing her personality. The colouring technique finalised was highlights, which added more texture to her dense hair.Â
The highlights combined two variations — slicing and weaving. Hair slicing is typically used to create a bolder highlight, and as the name suggests, it slices sections of hair which are coloured in a foil. Weaving on the other hand is an even finer highlight pattern (than slicing) which gives a more natural look.
Caramel has been used as the bolder colour using the slicing technique, while the vibrant cherry has been used as a subtle touch with the weaving technique. The client was very happy with her new look as it was executed without altering the length of her hair yet turning her into a diva.Â
