Interiors: Nursery lessons on decoration for parents-to-be
Exciting projects for parents- to-be include designing the baby nursery (besides diaper shopping, prenatal yoga etc). It’s fun, time consuming and for some, can be quite exhausting.

Colour palate:
The right hues make the biggest difference in nursery. Often, moms see stuff online that are pastels and go for the appeal, but sometimes in India that doesn’t really work. A good balance of soft colours with a touch of accents make a room wow! It’s so cliched to do pinks and blues these days — I would say look at grey, yellow, biscuit, teal etc; burnt orange is my top favourite. A little bling with gold for girl babies would be super classy. To add, it’s always advisable to keep a neutral colour to the main structures and add the fun colours to the accessories — this ensures flexibility as babies outgrow spaces very fast and changing furniture colour is not all that easy or practical.
Room space: Essentials that should be factored in, even if the space is minimal, include the crib, a comfortable seater mainly for nursing and a changing station with storage. If the nursery is spacious then a toy storage , baby wardrobe , bassinet, playpen etc can be factored in at the very beginning. I feel it’s better to avoid installation etc and keep it dust free. Besides, moms don’t find the time from the baby to oversee these. Furniture picked should be child- friendly and have the flexibility to be moved around. Nowadays, parents like investing in built to grow items as well.
Soft furnishings and accessories: This is like the icing and cherry on the cake. I call it the finishing touch. Window treatment, wall paper, wall art, beddings, knobs, rugs etc determine the character of the child. It spells individuality, chalks out their persona. Adding the fun element with lovely accessories is the best way to design a nursery.
Lighting and ventilation: Lighting and good ventilation determine the mood of the nursery. Yellow lights would be the preferred option, to add warmth. A couple of accent pendant lights adds to the fun. Nowadays, many are available at reasonable rates.
