Makeover Magic: ‘Bombre’ is a great technique for colouring

In terms of hair colour, she was very keen on trying out the latest trends. Centred around her youthful, cheerful and vivacious persona, our expert decided to give her a look that is soft, fun and chic. 

The cut was designed to frame her round face and make it appear oval, which is considered the best face shape for women. For this she was given a transient inversion layer cut. It is a haircut, where disconnected layers are created with shortened layers, at the crown adding volume while maintaining the length as the client desired. Further, the short-to-long bangs helped to cut down and soften her jawline. 

The colours chosen for her were selected from the trending colours of brown and blonde in a three colour blend — chocolate, walnut and honey. These hues are not only in trend but were also chosen to complement her skin tone. The colour technique chosen is bombre, an innovative mix of two trending techniques — ombre and balayage. Ombre is a technique where the colours flow from darker tones at the root and gradually get lighter at the ends of the hair. The ombre technique also helps create an illusion of length.  Balayage is a free -hand technique where no foils are used, which means that every streak of colour created looks soft, natural and sun-kissed. 

The placements of the colours are done to further accentuate and define the layers in the cut. The short crown layers are in chocolate, mid- length is walnut-coloured and ends are honey tinted.
