    A two-day seminar is being held at Dakshina Chitra to look at how artistes can look at depicting environmental issues. Sharath Nambiar, COO of the heritage museum shares more information.

    Tell us more about the seminar 

    DakshinaChitra is hosting a two-day seminar titled ‘Environmental Consciousness in Current Indian Art’ that will be organised by Kathryn Myers and Neeta Omprakash. The speakers are mainly contemporary artistes, scholars and art critics. The theme centres around issues of urban change and environment and an artist’s approach to these issues. Should it be the responsibility of an artist to address these issues, however abstractly in his/her work or should an artist distance him/herself from such topics – it will look to answer these questions. It also looks at place of art in public places.

    Who are the speakers? 

    We have doyens from art world like Benny Kuriakose, Nirupama Jayaraman, Asim Waqif, Sandhya Bordawekar, Ravi Agarwal, Swetha Bhatad, Parvathi Nayar, Lina Vincent Sunish, Maya Kovskaya and many others.
