Shilpa trolled for misinterpreting Animal Farm
Shilpa Shetty, while reacting to the recent decision of Council of School Certificate Examination (CISCE) to include Harry Potter series in the English Literature syllabus for junior and middle school students, starting from 2017-18, said that George Orwell’s Animal Farm should be included as it will teach the little ones to love and care for animals.

Animal Farm, based on a dystopian society and the Russian Revolution of 1917, is a social commentary on the Stalinist era in Soviet Union and has nothing to do with taking care of animals. So, just after Shetty’s comment, #ShilpaShettyReviews started trending on Twitter with people posting jokes about other books. Twitter users responded with summarising books with guesswork from their titles. After a day of trolling, Shilpa took to Twitter to reveal her side of the story. Accepting that she has never read any of the books she recommended, the actor wrote, “Whilst I admire the writers of LOTR, Harry Potter & Animal Farm I’ve “NEVER” read these books (at the cost of sounding even dumber!) Not my kind… So recommending them to kids is out of the question! Obviously some misunderstanding…Don’t want to get into it. This too shall pass.”
