Indie art festival to celebrate spirit of Chennai

IndiEarth XChange provides a professional platform where industry representatives, venue owners, media, labels, musicians and independent filmmakers can network, discuss, attend workshops, and experience performances and screenings by independent artists. The aim is to create networks between Indian and international industry members and build business relationships that nurture culture and the arts, building new markets for industry in India, and creating international markets for Indian artists. Heralding the beginning of the Music Season in Chennai, this year’s XChange is a tribute to Chennai’s rich artistic heritage and resilient spirit. 

“We’ve had incredible support from fellow pioneers of the arts, industry delegates and educational institutions — longstanding partnerships that have supported us through the years and understand the importance of our work toward industry sustainability, beyond the sponsorship model” says Sonya Mazumdar, EarthSync, that is organizing the event. “Now more than ever we need to stand together — as arts organisations, educational institutions, individuals, industry entities, and audiences – come together as a tribute to the resilience of the city’s spirit — and most importantly, celebrate that through art, music, and film and culture”. 

Featuring independent acts from across the musical spectrum, this year’s music line-up is a blend of international musicians and artists from all across India. The line-up includes alternative act Organic Bananas (France), Miss V (Live) feat. Chaitanya Bhaidkar, Sauvage Sound System from Reunion Island, singer/songwriter Abhi Tambe, Aver (India) and synth/darkpop act Aqua Dominatrix. It will also screen a vast collection of independent films from both established and emerging filmmakers and from a variety of different genres like Maheen Zia & Miriam Chandy Menacherry’s Lyari Notes, an Indo-Pak collaboration of filmmakers that had its world premiere last year at the prestigious International Documentary Film Festival in Amsterdam, Harold Monfils’ A Good Day To Die, Hoka Hey (Malaysian) screening for the first time in India after travelling the festival circuit in Europe and North America, and YKT, Mumbai, a new documentary by National Award winning filmmaker OP Srivastava. Professionals will also share their knowledge and expertise on a range of subjects imparting practical knowledge, skills and critical industry insights; giving attendees the opportunity to meet established industry professionals from all around the world.
