Recreating nature’s hues and textures
Saranya V Kumar, who recently completed a course in Deco Clay Craft from Japan, thereby becoming one of India's only three certified trainers in the field, speaks about this lesser-known art
Chennai
What is Deco Clay all about?
Using this innovative, air-dried clay, which is predominantly made of papier mâché, you can make flowers closest to how they are in real life. Without involving any tools or fixtures, the clay, that has its origin in Japan, can bring to life nature’s hues and textures.
Where can one get this clay?
It can only be ordered from the Deco Clay Craft Academy offices in Japan and Hawaii, US. However, it can be ordered by only those who have completed the Instructor-level course.
Please tell us about your brand Levoca
Levoca was curated a month ago with two main objectives. One, to create customised, hand-crafted floral stories for connoisseurs who seek exclusivity and want creations as per their taste and preferences. The other, to teach the art of Deco Clay to people here, which includes both the certification courses as conceptualised and offered by the academy, and also non-certification shortterm courses.
