It’s time for fans to show their loyalty
It’s that time of the year again where the entire city goes football crazy. Its ISL Season.
Chennai
The Chennaiyin FC fans seem to be quite excited as the reigning Champions start their title defence today. A group of Chennaiyin FC supporters have come together and showed their love and support for the team with a flash mob at the Grand Mall in Velachery.
With an incredible finish to ISL 2015, the Chennaiyin FC fans wanted to show love and support to the club at the start of the ISL 2016.
The fans who came dressed in blue, which is official colour of the club performed a flash mob in synchronised fashion. One of the organisers of the flash mob, Jenisha Rani, says, “We wanted to show our love and support for the Chennaiyin FC club as last year even thought we were hit by heavy rains and floods, but we still managed to lift the ISL Cup.”
“Since Chennaiyin FC was the reigning champions, we have made a replica of the ISL trophy which will also be at display during the matches as well,” she added.
“Chennai has a well-known football fan base which supports a lot of the European clubs but for ISL we leave our differences aside and support the Chennaiyin FC club,” Jenisha Rani concludes.
A blast from the past:
Chennaiyin FC was playing FC Goa for the ISL 2015 finals. With barely three minutes left on the clock Joffre Gonzalez of FC Goa scored with a brilliant free-kick in what should have been the match winner (at 2-1).
Within a minute Chennaiyin FC hit back with two goals which seemed to have uplifted the people and brought hope of winning the title. In a dramatic turn of events, John Mendoza, the top-scorer of ISL 2015, after missing a penalty, scored the winner in the 90th minute.
