What is floral designing all about?Â
Floral designing involves creating designs and arranging different pieces using flowers and other types of plant material. Live or dried flowers and plants can be used to create floral pieces. Some of the different types of floral design pieces that can be made include bouquets, floral accents on the hair for brides, wreaths and centrepieces for various occasions. Floral arrangements and the flowers used also change according to the occasion.
What will participants learn from the workshop?
Floral arrangements are not necessarily the first things that come to mind when considering an art form. However, working with flowers is an extremely challenging craft that requires patience, tenacity and a keen artistic eye. It can also be polarising — everyone has different views and opinions on what a floral arrangement should be, the colour combinations it should have, or the flowers that must be used. In this workshop, participants will learn to make contemporary patterns and designs using fresh flowers, particularly for weddings. Weddings are all about vibrant colours and heavy patterns, so participants will learn various techniques to make the best designs with optimum use of flowers.
How lucrative is floral designing as a profession?
Floral designers can specialise in weddings or events or open their own stores for everyday type of flowers. The options are endless, and the demand for a talented and unique eye for floral visions is high in many cities across the country.
