All elements of the legacy of Kathak's Lucknow gharana will now be under one roof for all to see.

The deohri, which has been renovated into a museum of Kathak by the state culture department, was dedicated to the people of the city  yesterday.

Culture secretary Anita Meshram said here today different aspects of Kathak would be displayed in the museum. Personal artefacts, clothes, accessories and books belonging to the family would be showcased. One room would be dedicated for display of documents, documentaries and books on Kathak.

"The entire place has been decorated with pictures and the family tree of Kathak's first family," she said.

The place reminds one of living heritage spots in European countries. Homes of certain poets in Europe have been converted into a live museum where visitors can get a feel of the life and times of a legend. Tour operators and tourism industry experts said the spot would be a big hit among tourists. It is already a part of Lucknow's heritage walk.
