CHENNAI: Uncertainty has emerged over the release of Jana Nayagan, starring Vijay, as the film is yet to receive its censor certificate, merely few days ahead of its scheduled Pongal release on January 9.
Directed by H Vinoth, Jana Nayagan has completed post-production and was submitted to the Central Board of Film Certification last month.
But with the censor certificate still pending, advance bookings for the film have not opened in Chennai, though bookings have begun in some other districts. The delay has led to concerns among fans ahead of the planned release date, according to a Daily Thanthi report.
Produced by KVN Productions, Jana Nayagan features Pooja Hegde as the female lead, with Mamitha Baiju in a key role. The ensemble cast also includes Priyamani, Bobby Deol, Gautham Vasudev Menon and Narain. Music for the film has been composed by Anirudh Ravichander.
The film is Vijay's last before his full-fledged political plunge.
