CHENNAI: Actor Silambarasan’s 2004 film Kuththu is set to return to theatres after 22 years this May.
Kuththu, directed by A Venkatesh, featured Silambarasan, Ramya (Divya Spandana) and Kalabhavan Mani. Notably, the film marked Ramya’s debut in Tamil cinema. Kuththu was a remake of the 2003 Telugu film Dil, which starred Nithiin and Neha Bamb.
The film follows Anjali, the daughter of a powerful gangster, who is in love with Gurumoorthy, a young man. However, Veerabahu, Anjali's father, disapproves of their union and tries to separate them.
Kuththu’s popular tracks, composed by Srikanth Deva, remain fan favourites, including Pottu Thakku and Nibuna Nibuna.
In recent times, the trend of re-releasing popular films from the 1990s and 2000s has gained momentum, with digitally remastered versions drawing strong theatrical responses.
Films such as Ghilli, Padayappa, Mankatha, Sachien, and 3 have all seen successful re-runs and impressive box-office success.
With the re-release announcement of Kuththu now official, fans of Silambarasan are eagerly looking forward to seeing the film on the big screen once again.
