CHENNAI: The recently-released Jockey has been winning critical acclaim. Directed by Praghbal Das the film stars Yuvan Krishna, Ammu Abhirami and Ridhaan Krishnas in prominent roles.

“I am glad that the film has opened to overwhelming response from the audience and critics. We are releasing the dubbed version in other languages too,” begins Praghbal. The story revolves around the sport of goat fighting. “Which is why we titled the film as Jockey.

The lead characters train goats and animal trainers are named Jockey, which is one of the apt titles,” adds the filmmaker.

He opens up on the prep work for the film and reminisces, “I had put into three years of pre-production for the movie. We had to bring in goats from various parts of the country and had to train them. Apart from this, the lead characters too travelled with me for 36 months because they need to get used to the animal behaviour pattern. Every effort is worth it.”

Praghbal brought writers from Madurai to pen the dialogues. “Since I am not from Tamil Nadu, I roped in writers from Madurai to get the dialect in place. We had a discussion and made healthy alterations wherever required. The movie has been doing well in rural centers too. Since Tamil cinema has showered love, I would definitely love to do my next in Tamil as well.” he signs off.
