CHENNAI: In a major setback for actor and TVK president Vijay and the makers of his much-hyped film Jana Nayagan, the Madras High Court stayed the single-judge direction to Central Board of Film Certification earlier in the day and adjourned the hearing to January, effectively postponing the release of the Rs 500-crore film till after Pongal festival holidays.
Jana Nayagan, which is widely said to be Vijay's last film as he is focusing on politics, was originally scheduled to be released on January 9, but was stalled after the CBFC refused to grant the mandatory censor certificate.
Earlier on Friday (January 9), the single judge had told the board to grant censor certificate.
