CHENNAI: Kalakshetra students have decided to halt their protests owing to examination. They arrived at this decision after holding discussions with the State Women Commission.

The students of Kalakshetra Educational Institute, which operates under the control of the Central government, sat on a protest inside the institute to take action against a professor who sexually harassed several students. Students raised allegations on social media that a professor was sexually harassing students.

After a five-hour discussion with the Tamil Nadu Women Commission chief Kumari, the students considered halting their protests. Following the inquiry, Kumari informed she spoke with 12 students in-person and with five through video call.

The State Women Commission learned that the sexual abuse has been taking place since 2008. The Women body's chief said the students have submitted a complaint against five, including the professor, and it would be filed on Monday.
