CHENNAI: A couple was found dead with a slit throat in their house in Chromepet on Sunday.

The police have registered a case and search is on to nab their daughter's lover, who is missing.

Police identified the deceased as Arumugam (56) of Zamin Royapettah, a flower vendor and his wife Manjula (53). The couple has two daughters and a son and all of them got married. Police said the eldest daughter Vasanthi (32) got separated from her husband and was living alone in a house. Vasanthi who is an active user of Instagram met Moses and both of them were in a relationship. A few months ago, Vasanthi caught Moses when he hugged and misbehaved with her 11-year-old daughter and started to avoid him.

Following this, he often visited Arumugam and insisted him to persuade Vasanthi to talk to him. Since Moses was visiting their house every day, Arumugan shifted to a new house in the same locality 10 days ago. Every day the couple used to talk with Vasanthi over the phone, but for the last two days there was no phone call from her parents and their mobile phone was also not reachable. On Sunday night, Vasanthi went to meet her parents and found that the house was locked from the inside. With the help of neighbours, when Vasanthi broke open the door they found Arumugam and Manjula lying dead in the living room.

On information, the Chitlapakkam police sent the bodies for post-mortem examination to the Chromepet GH. When browsing the CCTV, they found Moses and a young boy entering the house on Saturday at 11 pm and going out on Sunday around 4 am. Police believe that Moses murdered the couple and escaped. On checking his mobile phone signal, the cops traced him to Nellore in Andhra Pradesh. A special team of police rushed to Andhra to nab Moses.
