Man kills granny for asking his mother to pay back in Korukkupet

CHENNAI: Police on Tuesday arrested a 28-year-old man for the alleged murder of his grandmother in Korukkupet after a quarrel.
The deceased was identified as S Visalakshi (70), residing at Karumariamman Nagar in Korukkupet. Police investigation revealed that the elderly woman was working as a house help.
She had loaned an amount of Rs 2 lakh to her daughter, Amudha, a few years ago to help her with the construction of the house.
As Amudha returned only half the amount, the elderly woman used to pester her daughter to return the money.
Irate over this, Amudha’s son, R Satish (28) picked up an argument with his grandmother on Tuesday and in the melee, he attacked her with a knife he was carrying.
The elderly woman was moved to a hospital nearby, where she was declared brought dead. R K Nagar police registered a case of murder and arrested Satish.
He was produced before a magistrate and remanded in judicial custody
