Lyricist Kabilan’s daughter found dead in Arumbakkam
Police sources said that on Friday afternoon the deceased’s mother had tried speaking with her, but since the door was locked from inside for a long time, she sought the neighbours’ help to break open the door.
CHENNAI: Tamil Film lyricist and writer Kabilan’s daughter, Thoorigai died of suicide at her residence in MMDA colony, Arumbakkkam on Friday.
Preliminary inquiries revealed that the 28-year-old woman, an MBA graduate took the extreme step after an argument with her parents over her wedding. Like her father, Thoorigai too is part of the film industry, working as a costume designer and stylist.
Police sources said that on Friday afternoon the deceased’s mother had tried speaking with her, but since the door was locked from inside for a long time, she sought the neighbours’ help to break open the door.
Thoorigai was found unconscious. She was moved to a private hospital in Vadapalani, where she was declared brought dead. Arumbakkam police have registered a case and sent her body to the Kilpauk Medical College (KMC) hospital for autopsy. Further investigations are on.
