CHENNAI: Chennai Police arrested two youths who performed dangerous stunts on their motorbike on Anna Salai. A video of these youngsters’ dangerous stunts went viral on social media on Friday, after which police launched a hunt.

Two teenagers and college students, N Mohammad Harris, (19), and Mohammad Saiban, (19) - residents of Ambur in Tirupattur district were arrested and a search is on for another youth, a native of Hyderabad in Andhra Pradesh.

In the video clips, the duo was seen riding dangerously (wheeling) near Teynampet police station, moving towards Anna Flyover.

It may be noted that Tamil Nadu topped the country in the number of deaths involving two wheelers in 2021, according to the data released by the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB). Tamil Nadu also reported large number of deaths in road accidents due to over- speeding, accounting for 13.1 % of overspeeding deaths in the country (11,419 out of 87,050 deaths).

Among cities, Chennai recorded the second highest number of fatal road accidents in the country- 998, accounting for 7.5 % of total deaths due to road accidents among the 53 mega cities considered by NCRB. Delhi topped the chart with 1,172 deaths.
