TIRUVALLUR: Chaos reigned at Tiruvallur on Thursday when a 19-year-old bride-to-be fled from her own wedding with seven sovereigns of gold and Rs 1 lakh that was kept for her wedding expenses.

The bride Suji, daughter of Anbu and Mahalakshmi is a resident of Kakkalur village in Tiruvallur. Her parents had fixed her wedding that was to take place on Friday at Periyapalayam Amman Temple. While the wedding preparations were in full swing, confusion broke out at Suji’s house when no one could find the bride.

A thorough search revealed that not only had the bride gone missing, gold jewels weighing seven sovereigns and cash of Rs 1 lakh that was to be used for the wedding had also disappeared. “All efforts to reach the bride were in vain and none of her friends or relatives have any clue about her whereabouts,” police said.
