CHENNAI: A 49-year-old man who was working as a credit manager at a private finance firm in the city died of suicide by allegedly jumping off the fifth floor of the apartment, he was staying in T Nagar on Tuesday.

The deceased was identified as Muthuraja of Kuniyamuthur in Coimbatore. Police investigations revealed that Muthuraja’s family- wife and a teenage son- live in Coimbatore while he lives alone at an apartment on Raman Street in T Nagar.

According to the complaint by his wife, Vinodha, a lecturer at a private college in Coimbatore, Muthuraja used to visit Coimbatore every fortnight. Recently, he came home on August 27 and was sharing about few changes at workplace which were affecting him, police said.

After spending a couple of days in Coimbatore, the man reached Chennai on Monday. On Tuesday morning, around 6 am, a resident of the apartment saw Muthuraja lying on the floor with bodily injuries and alerted the other residents.

Pondy Bazaar police rushed to the scene on information and moved Muthuraja to a hospital where he was declared brought dead. Police suspect the man to have committed suicide by jumping off the fifth-floor terrace of the apartment.

A case has been registered and further investigations are on.
